In September or October (It's been too long, I don't remember) we went to the local Pumpkin Patch called "Jaker's Jackolanterns". It is free and they have some fun things for the kids.
First thing to see was the "petting zoo" (which wasn't really for petting, just looking). There was a 700lb pig, a lamb, and bird thingies (I think they were young ostrich), and a calf and kid. The kids enjoyed it.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the night... Timothy took it.
The first night we went, we didn't go with enough time to see very much before it got dark (they close at dark). So we went back another night as saw the rest!
Cute boys sitting on Pumpkins!
They had a hayride. Along the way we saw the HUGE pumpkin fields, and cows!
As well as a beautiful sunset!
They had this "Sand Box" that was filled with dried corn, rather than sand. Timothy was all over. Jumping, throwing, getting buried. Spencer was fine to sit in it and just touch it, not much else.
Spencer really like the stacked hay bales and running around on those!
They also had a hay bale maze, but it was too dark to get a decent picture of the boys running through it. But they really enjoyed that part too.
I forced Robby to stand still for a picture of us. I like it.
At the end of the evening we bought 3 big pumpkins (for cheap!!) and some cute little ones.
That night after the boys were in bed, we tore up our garden. We were afraid that if we ween't paying attention, it would freeze before we could save our tomatoes. So we decided to just do it and then not have to worry about a freeze. We pulled up all 17 of our plants, separated the red from the green.
We had many loads of boxes and wheel barrows full of pulled up plants.
The finished product. we put the red ones aside for immediate use (my awesome friend ended up canning them for me while I was gone in Canada) and we layered the green ones in a box with newsprint paper for slow ripening and use though these next few months.
Well those are the cutest pictures I've seen for a long time. That trick or treating story was pretty funny. Thanks for posting all these. Such a nice family!
