Not Just a phase

So there are certain things about me that are simply me... for example:I love pickles all the time, I am not an action movie person, I hate dishes...these are all things that stay with me and haven't ever really changed.

One thing about me that has been showing through more lately (mostly because I have more time) and is not just a phase is the type of books I like to read... you could ask anyone who knows me and they would tell you that chick flicks are my kind of movie... well that category would apply to books as well. I also really like LDS fiction. So, what do you get when you combine LDS fiction and chick flick (aka romance)? Anita Stansfield.

Recently I have kind of become obsessed. Since the middle/late January, I have read 8 LDS romance books by Anita Stansfeild and am almost done with my 9th and a 10th waiting to be picked up. Ok, Ok, maybe my Anita Stansfeild kick is just a phase, but you could probably guess that when I phase out reading her, I will probably go for others like her (before I picked up on her, I read one by Dean Hughs and one by Jack Weyland).

So, even if you are not an LDS romance reader by nature... if you are ever looking for a good real life story that can make you laugh and cry in the same page, consider picking up an Anita Stansfield book and enjoy!

Some of you may think less of me after you see this!

So, to put it plainly... I HATE dishes!

Well... we kind of have a hate/love relationship (yes, in that order). I hate doing them, but I love what my kitchen looks like after they are done. Let me show a few pictures to illustrate my point.

Because I hate doing them, we let them pile up for far too long and with no dishwasher, our kitchen looks like this after a while...Those pictures were taken around 9:00am yesterday... Then I stacked them all to get them ready to do and then got started.

I worked on those dishes for a long time... and now we're almost done!

After working long and hard... I even cleaned my stove... I get to the part that I love about dishes- my CLEAN Kitchen!!!
These pictures were taken around 11:50am.Yes, it took me almost three hours to complete the whole project. (That is with only a few small breaks to use the bathroom, get some tunes to listen to, etc.) But look how pretty it is!!

So, there you have it... my dishes escapade on Friday morning. Another thing I hate a bout dishes... as soon as you are done, somebody cooks or eats or something and bam, just like that, there are more dishes to do... it isn't fair...

I was talking to my sister about it yesterday and she mentioned that it wouldn't take me that long to do dishes if I just did them more often... I suppose that I might hate dishes less if I didn't do this to myself... but I feel like I would ALWAYS be doing dishes. Hopefully, I can at least keep my kitchen clean until Robby comes home tonight. Maybe I will have to put our sponge with the soap dispenser in it to good use every time I dirty a dish!

Oh... HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

My Simple Miracle

Robby and I have been really lucky to have two vehicles. Lately, however, the truck has been on the fritz. We have done very well at sharing the car, even though it is inconvenient at times.
We think the trouble with the truck is the battery or the alternator... but we haven't taken the time to fix it (which can probably be done without too much effort). When we have really needed the truck we have been able to jump start it, but usually it just makes the noises of starting and won't catch (ru ru rur ruuuu... etc) so we stick with using only the car.
Yesterday I had the car and apparently left the lights on. When I needed it to go to my birthing class, low and behold the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start. Well with Robby out of town, I called my brother to help but he didn't answer. I decided that maybe I should give the truck a try before I get frantic and start calling a ton of people.... Well this is where the simple miracle takes place... the truck started on the first try!!! I couldn't believe it. So I got my class ok and lucky for me it stared again at the end of the class.
Later that night when I was talking to Robby on the phone I told him of my little miracle with the truck. He was impressed. I asked him if he thought the truck would start in the morning or if it was just a fluke, he had no idea.
To make this miracle truly a miracle, the truck would NOT start this morning after many tries. So I was able to get my neighbor, who i don't know, (another miracle considering I couldn't get a hold of any of my family) to help me jump start the car and was able to go about my day just like normal. Now I will try to remember my lights from now on...

Blog Opener

So after being an avid blog reader and living the blog life through other people, I decided to start my own blog. Now, I have no idea how well I will do at this considering I don't have internet at home and rely on the use of the internet at work, campus, or the library... but we shall try.
I hope to be able to keep you all up to date on the Evans' life, but forgive me for slacking (as I am sure I will). Also, as I am new to the blogging business, I hope you will bear with me as I learn.
Now, please gear up to enjoy The Evans Express!
